Sleepless Nights

My bed is where I do my thinking
My head on my pillow figuring
I make plans & make decisions
Play around with my imagination

I think of what I did and could of done
I remember that argument I could of won
I recall each of my conversations
Looking up at the roof in concentration

I think about someone I love or hate
Times ticking, by its getting late
Shut my eyes tight to go to sleep
But then start wondering if they're thinking of me

Thinking of what my future will bring
Picturing my own happy ending
Wondering how different of a person I'll be
Will I last long enough to see

Shove and twist and turn
With eyes that can hardly open
Mind insists I continue recalling
But sleep takes over till the morning

  1. I also can't sleep in distracting glare of thought. Nice poem captures a universal truth well.

  2. It perfectly defines my state when I lie in bed, unable to sleep
